	Biography
	Ian is the Director of the Research and Research Training Division at The University of Queensland, with responsibility for management support of UQ's research community including grants administration, research higher degree students, legal services, human and animal ethics, and research performance information.
	Prior to taking up his current appointment in September 2006, Ian was the Chief Operating Officer for the ARC Centre of Excellence for Integrative Legume Research, one of the eight first-round ARC centres of excellence established in 2003.
	His professional career spanning more than 30 years has also included senior management roles in international education and faculties in several Australian universities (including The University of Sydney and The Australian National University), establishment of the IDP Education Australia office in the Philippines and business development in the community health and aged care sector in Queensland.
	He is a Graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
