Research interests

Professor Fraser has an active research program in the development of new and improved materials, including:

Light alloys (such as Ti and Be)
Advanced intermetallic compounds
Phase stability and deformation behaviour in multilayered materials
Friction stir welding
Composite systems

This is based on research involving the development of advanced methods of materials characterization (involving high resolution and analytical electron microscopy), materials processing, and microstructure/property relationships.

More recently, he has concentrated effort on establishing the Center for the Accelerated Maturation of Materials (CAMM). At present, he serves as Director of CAMM in its start-up mode, and is responsible for soliciting funds from NSF, DARPA, the State of Ohio, and industrial partners.
