| For some time now it has been acknowledged by the international titanium community that, for more widespread take up of titanium and its alloys, low cost processing options must be developed. Powder metallurgy is one such cost effective route and there are opportunities for the development of new alloy compositions to further contribute to cost minimization. The aim of this project is to investigate and identify new titanium alloys and/or processing strategies based on a powder metallurgical approach, whilst at the same time addressing some of the fundamental issues associated with the various consolidation and post sintering thermomechanical processing steps. |
