Program A: Alloy Design and Processing

Program A consists of six projects targeted at designing microstructures in Al, Mg and Ti alloys through alloying, thermal and mechanical treatment in order to optimize their strength, ductility and performance. The figure below outlines the program structure and project managers showing a uniform distribution of young leaders from various nodes of the Centre. Over fifty researchers spanning all nodes of the Centre are involved in these projects, and the collaborations developed over the past few years have strengthened significantly. In addition, high calibre researchers are continually being recruited to the program where their personal research styles and expertise is ensuring a constant flow of fresh research ideas that has resulted in some very exciting research.
